Should I Get a Concrete or Marble Kitchen Benchtop?

I bet you are wondering…”WHY would a person looking for the concrete or marble not just go with the REAL DEAL?"

Both concrete and marble in their real forms are extremely difficult to maintain over a long period of time.

Marble, being a natural stone is extremely porous and prone to staining. Not only this but it is one of the ‘softer’ stones used for kitchen benchtops, thus, is more prone to damage by knocks and general day to day use.

Concrete is also a very porous product, although today you have all sorts of sealants available that will prevent some staining. The customer report is that it is still very prone to stains. The sealants often need to be re-done regularly and along with the high likelihood that chips will decorate the edges before too long make concrete benchtops a high maintenance decision.

Yes, marble and concrete benchtops will give your home the industrial (concrete) or elegant (marble) look when they are first installed but the sad fact is that it may not be too long before you are looking forward to your next kitchen renovation!

This is perhaps the reason why engineered stone companies such as Consentino and Caesarstone are spending millions to find a way to replicate the marble and concrete look that customers so badly want.

Most engineered stone slabs come with a 10 year warrantee and are highly heat, scratch and stain resistant. Although they are the easiest stone to maintain (hence the reason why it is becoming a leading kitchen benchtop material) it is definitely not indestructible and I encourage you to read the care and maintenance brochures on our website as well as any related articles.

Make sure you check out Caesarstone's full range of colours here.
